In times of uncertainty, the Society is a clear, persuasive, and steadfast voice championing arts and sciences education as an essential resource shaping meaningful, productive, and engaged lives that contribute to thriving communities.
The Society’s 47th Triennial Council in Baltimore provided an opportunity to reflect on recent successes, opportunities for growth, and projected challenges ahead. There, Phi Beta Kappa staff shared key data on the impact of our advocacy work from 2021-2024 with the Society’s leadership, chapter officers, and association volunteers. As new and contributing members, your support makes this work possible.
Looking ahead to 2025, you will find new and updated resources from the Society to share the importance of arts and sciences education with policymakers, opinion shapers, campus administrators, and students all year:
• Sign up for our monthly e-alert, State of the Arts & Sciences, for opportunities to champion arts and sciences education, at pbk.org.
• Welcome your new or reelected legislators with key messages in anticipation of tighter federal and state budgets during FY2025 at toolkit.pbk.org.
• Champion Phi Beta Kappa colleges and universities in your state. Government relations teams at public colleges and universities welcome constituent support from both alumni and non-alumni.
• Help the Society recognize promising arts and sciences majors interested in pursuing service careers by encouraging students at our 290+ chapters to apply for our Key into Public Service scholarship program by January 21, 2025, at pbk.org/servicescholarapp.
You will also find additional ideas to champion arts and sciences education this winter at toolkit.pbk.org.
