For the sixth consecutive year, Phi Beta Kappa is partnering with its network of local alumni associations to host Key Connections events throughout September and October. Hearkening back to the friendship and fellowship that is a cornerstone of our founding, the Key Connections events series offers the opportunity for recent members, typically those within about five years from their undergraduate experience, to network and connect with ΦBK members in their area.
This year’s Key Connections events will kick off with a national, virtual panel in early September with a focus on networking literacy, a topic responsive to what recent inductees have shared as important to them and where they perceive Phi Beta Kappa could be helpful. ΦBK members who are experts in this field will share advice and resources, and participants will also have the opportunity to join breakout sessions for peer-to-peer connection. ΦBK alumni associations will follow the national event with local programs that also focus on networking and career connection.
In 2021, Phi Beta Kappa hosted three career-specific panel discussions featuring ΦBK members in the fields of nonprofits and advocacy, business and development, and science and research, with panelists sharing how to make the most of education in the arts and sciences. More than 20 associations across the country hosted local Key Connections events ranging from virtual happy hours to conversations about applying to graduate school.
