Do the winter months find you traveling to warmer destinations? Be sure to look for Phi Bet a Kappa events while you are away from home. These opportunities offer the chance to meet area Phi Beta Kappa members, explore local culture through an arts and sciences lens, and hear from experts in their fields.

Phi Beta Kappa associations across the country, especially those in sunny locales, would love to welcome you, and many are planning events throughout the winter and spring. ΦBK Secretary and CEO Fred Lawrence will be visiting our Tucson and Phoenix associations in January as well as our chapters at the University of Arizona and Arizona State.

In Florida, we have active associations in the Jacksonville, Sarasota, and Tampa Bay areas and are looking to increase our presence in Miami, Orlando, and Naples. Our Florida chapters also are sponsoring some great events. This winter, the University of Florida’s Phi Beta Kappa chapter in Gainesville will offer a public lecture on January 22 featuring ΦBK Visiting Scholar Dava Newman, the first female engineer and scientist to serve as a Deputy Administrator of NASA. Newman will address the human journey to Mars and other leading space exploration questions, providing the chance for participants to explore new worlds through her talk. On January 24, the University of Miami will host ΦBK Visiting Scholar Lisa Anderson, former President of The American University in Cairo and an expert on state formation in the Middle East and North Africa. If you are curious about global affairs, this is an opportunity to engage with one of today’s leading experts.

If you will be in Arizona or Florida this winter and would like more information on Phi Beta Kappa events and how to best connect in these destinations, please reach out to us at support@pbk.org.

If travel does not take you to warmer climes, ΦBK chapters and associations across the country offer engaging lectures and events all year long. This winter might be the perfect time to learn from one of our Visiting Scholars, attend a local museum tour, or participate in a book club.
